Palworld Breeding Calculator

Find the best Pal breeding combinations to get the Pals you want with optimal IVs and traits.

Breeding needs one male and one female Pal at a Breeding Farm with cake in the box. IV inheritance is random per stat.

How to Use the Palworld Breeding Calculator

Breeding in Palworld is one of the fastest ways to get powerful Pals with the exact traits you want, but the mechanics are not obvious in-game. This palworld breeding calculator takes the guesswork out: pick two parents, and it shows you what offspring to expect, which traits can pass down, and how the IV inheritance works.

  1. Select Parent 1 and Parent 2. Choose the two Pals you plan to breed at the Breeding Farm. The offspring species is determined by a hidden breeding value — roughly the average of both parents’ breeding power — so the calculator resolves the resulting species automatically.
  2. Enter each parent’s IVs. Individual Values range from 0 to 100 in HP, Attack, and Defense. Higher is better. If you do not know a Pal’s IVs, use the in-game Palbox sorting or estimate from stat comparisons.
  3. Mark the traits each parent carries. Traits like Lucky, Swift, Musclehead, or Artisan are what make bred Pals truly valuable. Check the boxes for every trait on both parents.
  4. Review the results. The calculator shows the offspring species, the three IVs it will inherit (chosen randomly from the parents’ six IVs, weighted toward the higher parent’s values), each trait’s pass-down chance, and a breeding grade so you can decide whether the pairing is worth your cake.

How Palworld Breeding Works

Every Pal species has a hidden breeding value. When two Pals breed, the game averages the parents’ values and the offspring is the species whose breeding value is closest to that average. This is why breeding a high-tier Pal with a low-tier one often produces something in the middle, and why dedicated breeders use breeding combos — specific parent pairs known to produce a target species.

Individual Values (IVs) work differently. Each Pal has three IVs: HP, Attack, and Defense, each from 0 to 100. When breeding, the offspring inherits three IVs chosen at random from the six IVs of the two parents. This means if both parents have 100 Attack IVs, the child is guaranteed a high Attack IV, but if only one parent is perfect, the inheritance is a coin flip. Serious breeders therefore breed pairs where both parents share perfect IVs in the stats they care about.

Traits (passive skills) pass down independently with roughly a 50% chance per trait per parent, though some trait combinations are exclusive and cannot coexist. The calculator models each trait’s pass-down probability so you can estimate how many breeding attempts you will likely need. As a rule of thumb, getting three specific traits onto one offspring usually takes several cakes’ worth of attempts.

Example: Breeding a Perfect Attacker

Say you want an Anubis with perfect Attack IVs and the Musclehead (+30% Attack, -50% Work Speed) and Lucky (+15% Attack, +15% Work Speed) traits. You pair a male Anubis (Attack IV 100, traits: Musclehead) with a female Jormuntide (Attack IV 96, traits: Lucky).

The palworld breeding calculator first resolves the species: the average breeding value lands on Anubis, which is what you want. For IVs, the child draws three of the six parent IVs — with both parents near-perfect in Attack, the expected Attack IV of the offspring is around 98. For traits, Musclehead has about a 50% pass-down chance from the father and Lucky about 50% from the mother, so roughly 1 in 4 eggs will carry both traits. Expect to bake around 4–8 cakes for a near-perfect result, then breed the best child back into the line to lock in the traits.

Breeding Power (CombiRank) and Special Combinations

Every Pal species carries a hidden number called its breeding power, known in the community as CombiRank. That number — not the parents’ levels or stats — decides the child: the game adds the two parents’ powers, adds 1, and halves, rounding down. The offspring is the species whose breeding power is closest to that result.

The scale runs backwards: the lower the power, the rarer the Pal. The rarest species sit near 20, common Pals around 3,000. A Lamball (3,050) bred with a Cattiva (2,760) targets 2,905 — the child is the species nearest that value. Two common Pals can never jump straight to a rare child.

Two exceptions override the formula. Two Pals of the same species always produce that species. And a small set of special combinations ignores breeding power entirely — one famous pair even depends on which parent is which sex, with male Katress plus female Wixen producing a different child than the reverse, which is why this calculator asks for each parent’s sex.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the offspring species get decided in Palworld breeding?

Each species has a hidden breeding value. The game averages the two parents’ breeding values and the offspring is the species closest to that average. Special combinations can produce species you would never expect, which is why a breeding calculator is so useful — it resolves the result instantly instead of you wasting cakes on trial and error.

How many IVs does a bred Pal inherit?

The offspring inherits exactly three IVs, chosen randomly from the six total IVs of the two parents (three stats × two parents). The other three IVs are rolled randomly. To maximize a specific stat, make sure both parents have high IVs in that stat so every possible draw is good.

What are the best traits to breed for?

It depends on the Pal’s role. For combat Pals, Lucky, Musclehead, and Ferocious are top tier. For work Pals, Artisan, Work Slave, and Serious are best. For mounts, Swift and Runner matter most. Breed combat Pals for damage traits and base Pals for work traits — never mix the two goals in one breeding line.

Do I need cake for every breeding attempt?

Yes. Each breeding attempt at the Breeding Farm consumes one cake, and the breeding pair keeps producing eggs as long as cake is available. Higher-quality cakes do not change the odds, so standard cake is fine — just bring plenty of it when chasing multiple traits.

Can traits from both parents stack on the offspring?

Yes, the child can inherit traits from both parents, up to its trait limit. Each trait passes down independently with roughly a 50% chance from the carrying parent. Some traits are mutually exclusive (for example, positive and negative variants of the same effect), so the calculator flags combinations that cannot coexist.

What is breeding power (CombiRank) in Palworld?

Breeding power is a hidden value assigned to every Pal species, from about 20 for the rarest to around 3,100 for the most common. When two Pals breed, the game averages their powers (rounding down) and the child is the species whose power is closest to that average. Lower power means a rarer Pal.

Does parent gender matter when breeding Pals?

Usually no — swapping which parent is male and which is female gives the same child. The exception is Katress and Wixen: a male Katress with a female Wixen produces a different species than the reverse pairing.
